Lasers can be used to treat benign (harmless) pigmented lesions including freckles, sun spots, angiomas, seborrheic keratosis, pigmented nevi, and cafe-au-lait birthmarks. Lasers are not used to treat moles or malignant (cancerous or pre-cancerous) lesions. After treatment, the outline of a spot may still be visible but the color will be lighter to blend in with the surrounding skin. We usually recommend two laser sessions, the first removes half or more of the pigment and the second removes the rest.
