How does radio frequency work?
In our context radio frequency does not refer to a car radio but to the intensity of the energy used. Radio frequency energy has a relatively low intensity which means it is both safer and penetrates more deeply than some other energy sources. The energy is converted into heat just below the surface of the skin (the dermis), where it destroys cellulite, stimulates collagen growth (which removes wrinkles), and liquefies any fat that has accumulated at that depth. The fat is then eliminated through the body's natural processes (the lymphatic system).
What are the benefits?
What areas can be treated?
Most parts of the body where fat accumulates or cellulite or wrinkles develop. The most popular areas are the face, neck, upper arms, abdomen, love handles (hips), thighs, and buttocks.
Is this procedure suitable for everyone?
It is suitable for most people who are generally healthy and wish to reduce cellulite, wrinkles, or moderate amounts of fat in localized parts of the body. Consult with us if you have specific health concerns.
Are the treatments safe?
The patient may experience momentary heat or warmth which normally resolves within minutes. Redness of the skin may appear which would normally disappear within hours. Dry skin may occur which can be healed by using moisturizing cream. Burns are very unlikely because skin temperature is monitored continuously and kept within narrow limits.
Are the treatments painful?
Heating is the only potential discomfort and many people find this warmth to be a pleasant sensation.
What preparation is needed?
Drink more water than usual and refrain from alcohol and fatty foods in the hours before treatment.
How many sessions are needed and at what interval?
Treatments may be safely continued until the desired result is achieved. Many people are happy with 6 – 8 sessions. We have good results with weekly sessions. Sessions may be less frequent but clients should wait at least three days between sessions. The sessions are 30 – 45 minutes long per area treated.
